I'm a senior at the University of Texas at Dallas majoring in Biochemistry and a minor in Literature, with intentions to attend medical school upon graduation I graduated High School with Honors and with my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma both of which is enabling me to graduate a year earlier compared to my peers. I am very involved on campus and in a scholars program offered to select students on my campus
Experience
I volunteered as a tutor for AVID during my high school years, in which I assisted students of all grade levels (9th - 12th) and in a variety of subjects. I tutored students in Math, Chemistry, and English. I have also worked as a private tutor for Varsity Tutors starting in 2017. The subjects I have tutored include College Chemistry, High School Chemistry, Algebra 2, and Spanish 2. I was fortunate to have great teachers growing up however I’ve learned that the classes I excelled in can be attributed to the teachers who utilized positive reinforcement, persistence, and made the material relevant to me. Therefore as a tutor, I have implemented these same strategies in my sessions which have yielded great results. I believe it is my responsibility to teach students the content in a way they can develop a general appreciation for it. Moreover, I’ve found stressing the importance of learning concepts rather than memorizing facts has been quite helpful.

Hobbies
I don’t mean to brag, but you will soon learn that I am one of the biggest fans of The Office! I love the show so much that I am currently rewatching the show in its entirety for the 7th time now (the goal is to hit 10 before Netflix decides to remove the show from its platform). Moreover, I enjoy reading a nice dystopian novel or classic while playing ABBA in the background. Aside from reading and The Office, I enjoy running but only in the evenings so I can beat the murderous Texas heat! I have a healthy fear of bugs (especially roaches), and I can proudly say I still wake up my dad in the middle of the night to help me kill them from time to time.
